Review: Topshop Lipstick in Infrared

Topshop Lipstick - Infrared (£8)

After hearing Zoella rave about this for the 3rd time and also seeing Barbara use it too, I decided I wanted this lipstick in my life. I find most red lipsticks are too blue toned for me and I loved how orange lipsticks looked on people (it looked amazing on Zoe and Barbara!). I have an orange/coral lipstick that I bought two years ago before I went on holiday and it's Tell No One by Rimmel. It was a bit too neon orange for me but Infrared is perfect.

It looks quite scary in the tube, quite a dark, bright orange. However when applied its more of an orange/red lipstick that really brings out the warm tones in the skin. It looks amazing with bronzed skin or coral cheeks and I am seriously loving it. If I wasn't such a scaredy cat about lipsticks I'd wear it every day but it might be a bit much for uni...

The formulation is lovely. I'd describe it as a satin finish by MAC as it's somewhere between matte and glossy. There's no shimmer and it smoothes onto the lips. It's very pigmented but it can be used either sheer or full on. It's definitely worth the price, it feels great on the lips, looks great and lasts quite a long time on as well.

You can get this at all Topshop stores that stock make-up or online (it's not on the site at the moment).
Have any of you tried this? What to do you think?

Review: Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum Foundation

Excuse the disheveled appearance!

I've been using my No7 Lift & Luminate foundation for around two years now. I've had other foundations but I'd always go back to the No7 one because it had reasonable coverage, it was dewy but not shimmer and it was light. However I wanted a change and I'd heard lots of good things about the Healthy Mix foundation and according to everyone who's tried both, the serum is even better than the already raved about original.

It was £10.99 which I thought was quite a lot (you can get it cheaper online, look around!) but then again I haven't really bought foundation in ages. I'm shade number 56 which I think is second from last. This is quite disappointing for anyone who's quite dark skinned as the shades seem to stop at a medium shade. I think one of the main reasons for this foundation being popular is the yellow-toned base it has. It's not overly orange like some yellow-tones foundations and it looks very "your skin but better". I think it would suit a lot of skin tones because it looks very natural.

The coverage is superb, for me. I'd say it's a medium coverage but what I was most impressed by was how easy it is to blend in. It smoothes on over the skin and leaves a semi-matte finish. I use a couple of pumps to cover my whole face and then apply concealer under my eyes. I absolutely love how natural this foundation looks. It looks even better than my beloved No7 one!

In terms of application it works well with brush and hands so it's up to preference, really! Overall I'm super happy with it! I'm quite tempted to try out the concealer now! I should have just indulged in the 3 for 2 offer that was there. Silly me.

Have any of you tried this foundation? What did you think of it? Yay or nay?

The Waterfall Braid

I remember seeing this hairstyle on tumblr and being totally smitten! I'm quite good at braids and plaits and I welcome a challenge so I did some research and got practicing. I must admit it took 3 tries to perfect and it also looks best on straightened hair (on me). My sister curled her hair and I did it and it looked fab too so! I can imagine it looking amazing with wavy hair! Let me know if you've tried this! Sorry if this "tutorial" isn't that helpful but I'm not the greatest at them :S Also I'm going to #zomgbloggersbash next monday so if any of you are, let me know and I can see you! I'm finally going to meet Kavita :D !!!

First brush your hair and make it tangle free:

Start a plait from your fringe or wherever you want it to start:

Start french plaiting until you get by your ear or wherever you want the waterfall braid to start:

Now when french plaiting take a piece from the top and add it in as normal. However drop the piece on the bottom and pick a piece of hair NEXT to it (going away from your face) and incorporate it into the braid:
(pic 1) add in piece from top as norm (pic 2) drop bottom piece (waterfall) (pic 3 + 4) pick a piece next to it and add into braid

Repeat! Every time you drop a piece it's the ~waterfall! See:

Work all the way round to the other side of the head:

Pin or braid all the way down! I prefer to pin as it looks neater.
And you're done! If you want a video demo youtube it and a whole load will pop up!

Bought: Moroccan Oil

Buyapowa is honestly the new bane of my life. They notified me when this went on sale to £21 and I snapped it up. I can't wait for it to get here! I have long hair and I really need to look after it. I was tempted to chop it off a while ago but now I can't! Even if I wanted to my guy friend is obsessed with it and has threatened that he'll never speak to me again if I cut it (he's a bit dramatic...). I've wanted to try this for SUCH a long time so I can't wait! I'm also getting back into John Frieda. I found a few drops of the curl defining spray left and remembered why I love it so much! Might need to buy some more! Haircare is becoming my life again. I always switch between hair, make-up, skincare, clothes, jewellery. I hone into one category and remain obsessed for a while before moving on! This year I vow to look after my hair and skin so lets hope this Moroccan Oil helps! (I hear it's great for skin!)

Have any of you tried this?

Review: Tresemme Instant Refresh Volumising Dry Shampoo

I bought this on a whim. No idea why as this is now my 3rd bottle of Dry Shampoo in my collection. However what I love about this one is how cool and refreshing it feels. Your hair feels so clean and REFRESHED (key word here). I bought this thinking it was invisible and it's not. It's also not really that volumising but I assume it is for fine hair as that's what it's marketed towards. I don't know why i didn't buy the normal hair one. I saw the word "Volumising" and didn't see much else really.

I would recommend this if you like your hair to feel clean and refreshed. It's no where near as volumising as the Batiste volume spray but it doesn't make your hair feel like absolute shit like that one does!
